crew search for person in the sea The Lytham St Annes Mersey class
All-weather Lifeboat (ALB) Her
Majesty the Queen was
launched this evening (Wednesday 27 th )
to search off Blackpool when calls for help were heard from the shore
and it was suspected somebody was in the sea in the near gale force
south westerly wind blowing. The Lifeboat was launched at 9.43pm and
proceeded to search as far north as the Gynn Square before the
Coastguard called the search off. The lifeboat returned to her station at midnight and was washed off and refuelled by 1.15am on
Thursday the 28 th .

Lytham Lifeboat Volunteer Deputy 2 nd
Coxswain Nick Glassbrook who was in command of the lifeboat said,
“The visibility for searching was not too bad with the glow from
the promenade lights on one side and the moon illuminating the rest.
Fortunately it appears to have been a false alarm with good intent.”
The Lytham lifeboat was fresh from
acting as a safety boat, along with Hoylake and New Brighton lifeboats, at the Three Cunard Queens event on the Mersey on Monday,
a role which gave the three lifeboats considerable media coverage.
