‘Leg It for the Shannon 2017’ Fact Sheet

The event is a 5k (or 3.5 miles)
Fun Run/Walk in aid of the £275,000 Appeal for a new Shannon class lifeboat at
Lytham and St.Anne’s RNLI. Everyone is welcome – runners, walkers, toddlers,
dog walkers, wheel chair and mobility scooter users.

How Do I Register?
Registration/check in is at ST.ANNES Lifeboat Station or LYTHAM Lifeboat Station from 9.30am. However, in order to avoid hold-ups, we would prefer it if participants registered before hand

The Run/Walk starts at Lytham lifeboat station and ends at St.Annes Lifeboat Station
is the cost to enter?
Adults £10.00, children £5.00

register on the day?
Yes, you can register at either end of
the course, but we hope the majority of people will register before the day to
speed things up so that everyone gets to the start line on time. Please Click Here to Register On-Line.
will check in take place?
Leg It For The Shannon participants should first check
in at ST.ANNES Lifeboat Station (behind the St.Anne’s YMCA Swimming Pool) or at LYTHAM
Lifeboat Station from 9.30am onwards.
I get to the start line?
If you register/ check in at St
Annes, you can catch a ride on a classic bus to the start line at Lytham
Lifeboat Station. If you register at Lytham you can use the bus to take you
back after your run/walk. Please note dogs are not allowed on the bus.
there a minimum or maximum age?
There is no minimum or maximum age. We would ask that younger children are
accompanied by an adult. Toddlers in pushchairs are permitted. Please note
there is a flight of steps to access the beach from Fairhaven Lake to be
negotiated, which will be fully marshalled, at all times. People in mobility
scooters or wheelchairs are also welcome. They will just need to do a detour on
the pavements between Fairhaven and the Beach Cafe. This route will also be
need to raise sponsorship on top of entry fee?
Sponsorship is optional but it would benefit the Shannon
Appeal greatly if sponsorship could be obtained and sponsorship forms are
available for this purpose on and off line. You can pay in the money you raise
at the St Annes station or by clicking our
'Just Giving Page'.
bring my dog?
Dogs on leads are permitted, but please note dogs are not allowed on the

There is no provision for bag
storage. We suggest that entrants carry a light rucksack or other bag with
essentials for the walk such as a drink and a waterproof.

Yes, when you register/check in at
Lytham Lifeboat Station or St.Anne’s Lifeboat Station.
there a prize for winning?
All entrants are winners in our eyes! Everyone gets a Tshirt and a goody bag.
What should I wear?
Please ensure that appropriate
walking/running attire is worn, especially appropriate footwear.
Fancy Dress is optional.
There is a car park at The
Island, next to the St.Anne’s Lifeboat Station. Ample car parking is also available

refreshments be available?
There will be a cafe and a
barbecue at St.Anne’s Lifeboat Station throughout the event for runners and
their supporters, and the 'Lytham St Annes Shanty Crew' will be here to entertain you too.
You will also be able
to take a tour of the current All Weather Lifeboat, Her Majesty the Queen, and hear
more about the Shannon Appeal.
